Birmingham City are currently safely inside the play-off spots.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Blues boss Gary Rowett discussed his team’s impressive performances so far this season, and drew comparisons between them and lasts season’s Championship winners Burnley, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.

Rowett’s men currently sit in fourth position in the Championship table, after losing just twice during their last 14 league games.

And Rowett spoke about how his Birmingham side are currently going under the radar, in much the same fashion that the Clarets did last season, before eventually winning the Championship by four points, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“It depends on what your perception of good football is. I remember people talking about Burnley last year – ‘They are not playing unbelievable football’. Well they rode away with this division last year and ended up promoted. Well, our aim is promotion not to look fantastic and finish mid-table.”

The Midlands outfit face Barnsley at St Andrews tomorrow, before an incredibly tough run of games that sees them face both Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion in the next two weeks.

Their performances so far this season though, should give them plenty of confidence as they head into this tricky looking spell before Christmas.

January will be a big month for the Blues, and if Rowett manages to bring in a couple of quality additions, then who knows how far Birmingham can go this season?
