Birmingham City will be looking for a much better performance in the Championship this coming season after securing survival on the final day.
Harry Redknapp has told Sky Sports that he wants to add as many as six further signings to his Birmingham squad this summer, and suggested that John Terry’s move to Aston Villa probably boosted their chances of landing that many players.
The Blues go into this summer looking to construct a squad capable of doing considerably better than they did last season when they only guaranteed their survival in the Championship with a win on the final day of the campaign.

Birmingham have already overseen three permanent deals, with Craig Gardner returning permanently along with Marc Roberts and David Stockdale also arriving, and Redknapp has suggested that he wants to complete several more deals, and missing out on former target Terry will probably prove beneficial to that.
“To put all my eggs in one basket was (a risk), I thought maybe I am better off spreading (my budget) and that will get me the five or six players perhaps with the money we would have paid on John,” he said, as reported by Sky Sports.
“Having said that, I would be a hypocrite if I stood here and said he wasn’t a top player. Aston Villa have signed a fantastic player – there is no doubt about that.
“But I am hoping I will get five or six players very good players in who can make us a better all-round team.”
What will leave Blues supporters with a huge amount of optimism is the fact that the existing squad did not spent the entire campaign in the doldrums last time out.
They were on the cusp of the top six under Gary Rowett before Gianfranco Zola’s poor tenure so clearly had a side capable of doing well, and having recruited some proven Championship stars in the likes of Roberts and Stockdale, it would hardly be a surprise if they have the potential to do well once again.
And Blues fans will be hoping that the subsequent signings boost their promotion hopes even further.
