The Leeds United youngster got his first taste of senior action for the club on Sunday.

Leeds United midfielder Billy Whitehouse has taken to Twitter following his first-team debut for the Whites.

The 20-year-old arrived at Elland Road from Doncaster Rovers back in July but he has had to wait until the fourth round of this year’s FA Cup to experience senior action, having previously featured for Leeds’ under-23s.

Unfortunately for the youngster, his debut did not go according to plan, with a much changed Leeds side losing 1-0 to non-league Sutton United.

Taking to social media on Sunday evening, Whitehouse wrote, “Thanks for the nice messages; gutted about the result but buzzing to make my debut.”

Given the midfield options at Leeds right now, and with the Whites now eliminated from the FA Cup, it seems unlikely Whitehouse will get any more chances to impress in the short term.

There is still plenty of time for him to stake a claim, and while he attracted his critics after the final whistle he showed glimpses of quality during his time on the pitch.

Now he will need to keep impressing on the training field and for the under-23s and see what the future brings.
