Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp played for Leeds United in 2014-15 and scored against Paul Heckingbottom’s side on Saturday.

Sharp made the comment following United’s 2-1 victory over Leeds at home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The 32-year-old striker scored both the goals for the Blades at Bramall Lane, first in the second minute and then from the penalty spot in the 73rd minute.
The former Southampton striker was on the books of Leeds during the 2014-15 season, while 26-year-old defender Cooper, who can operate as a central defender or as a left-back, has been at the Whites since the summer of 2014.

Sharp told Leeds Live about Heckingbottom and Cooper: “It’s a good appointment for them. He knows the league and I am sure he will do well.
“I saw on the teamsheet that Liam Cooper is the longest-serving Leeds player and I signed on the same day as him, it’s mental.”
Poignant observation
Sharp’s observation about Cooper is very poignant and speaks volumes about Leeds.
One of the reasons why the Whites have not finished in the top six of the Championship in recent years is the instability at the club, both in terms of players and managers.

Even this season when there is still a chance that the Whites can claim a playoff spot, there has been a managerial change.
If Leeds do not end up in the top six this season, then they will have to hatch a two or three-year plan and stick to it no matter what.
