Cameron Carter-Vickers is on loan at Swansea City from Tottenham Hotspur.
Reid has also hailed the progress that Carter-Vickers has made during his loan spell at Swansea this season.
The 21-year-old defender joined the Swans in the Championship on a season-long loan deal from Premier League outfit Tottenham in the summer of 2018.
According to WhoScored, the USA international has made 22 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for the Swans this season.
Reid told WalesOnline: “I can’t answer that but Cameron came here on loan from Tottenham and he had to bide his time to make the team. When he came into the team, he’s made huge progress.
“We asked him to step into the game with the ball and the progress he’s made in that area has been exceptional. He’s been a big, big part of the run we’ve been on.
“He’s a player in the future I’d certainly like to work with. There’s big progress in Cameron over the next couple of seasons.”
Swansea City stay?
Carter-Vickers is a very talented and promising young defender, but the 21-year-old is unlikely to get much playing time in the Tottenham first team next season.
If Swansea want to keep the USA international for the 2019-20 campaign, then the defender – who earns £20,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com – should take up that chance.
Swansea have endured a disappointing season in 2018-19, but in 2019-20, the Welsh club will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship.
