Rangers completed the signing of Jermain Defoe from Premier League side Bournemouth on Sunday.

Former Rangers player Billy Dodds has warned Steven Gerrard’s new signing, Jermain Defoe that the football in Scotland ‘will be tougher than he probably imagines’.
The Gers confirmed on their official website on Sunday that the 36-year-old has joined on an 18-month loan deal from Premier League side Bournemouth.
Defoe is set to bring bags of experience to Ibrox having played for a number of top clubs in England, including Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Now, the 163 Premier League goal-getter will be hoping to make a name for himself in Scotland under the stewardship of his former national teammate.
After his move to Glasgow was confirmed, Dodds offered his thoughts on Defoe’s acquisition and explained why he’ll score goals for Gerrard’s side.
“I think Defoe will do really well up here,” said Dodds, as quoted by the Sun. “Don’t get me wrong, I think it will be tougher than he probably imagines. A lot of players come up here thinking it will be a stroll and it doesn’t quite work out that way.
“But I don’t see that happening with Defoe because he has the mentality and, more importantly, the quality to do well. He still looks sharp and he’ll score goals. Of that, there’s no doubt.”

From the get-go, the pressure will be on the striker because he will be tasked to help Rangers pip their Old Firm rivals Celtic to the Scottish Premiership title.
Prior to the winter break, the Gers inflicted a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Brendan Rodgers side to move level on points with the leaders in the table, though they do have a game in hand on the title-chasing pack.
Upon their return from a mid-season break, Rangers will travel to Cowdenbeath for a Scottish Cup encounter before resuming league duties against Kilmarnock.
