Billy Dodds suggests Rangers striker Morelos shouldn’t be dropped

Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers will face Kilmarnock at Ibrox on Saturday, and Billy Dodds wants Gers striker Alfredo Morelos to be part of the team.

Billy Dodds has suggested to The Daily Record that Rangers manager Graeme Murty should not drop Alfredo Morelos from the team this coming weekend.

Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and is a key figure in the current Rangers team.

The Colombian striker, though, failed to convert an easy chance against Celtic at the weekend, as Brendan Rodgers’s side went on to win the Old Firm derby 3-2 at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.

The defeat in the Scottish Premiership game has pretty much extinguished Rangers’ chances of winning the league title this season.

Former Rangers and Scotland international striker Dodds, who won the Scottish league title with the Gers back in 2000, has suggested that Morelos should keep his place in the Gers’ starting lineup against Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.

Dodds told The Daily Record: “Morelos is far too important to the team to be left out as he stretches the game for Rangers and is crucial to what Murty is trying to do.”

Confidence low

Morelos’s confidence must be quite low at the moment because of his miss against Celtic at Ibrox.

That is precisely why Rangers manager Murty should keep faith in the 21-year-old striker, who joined the Gers from HJK Helsinki in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £1.5 million.
