Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers were destroyed in the Old Firm.

Billy Dodds has told the Scottish Sun people must remember that Saturday’s 5-1 demolition by Celtic was only Rangers’ first defeat of the season.
Mark Warburton’s side were brought back down to earth in ruthless fashion last weekend as the Hoops destroyed them at Parkhead.

Prior to kickoff, it was expected by many that Rangers – who signed 12 players in the summer, including Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar – would push their Old Firm rivals close in the Scottish Premiership title race this season, but the defeat seemed to illustrate a sizeable gap in quality between both Glasgow rivals.
It was, however, Rangers’ first defeat in five league outings, and Dodds, who himself knows the pain of a heavy defeat by the Bhoys following his four-year spell at Ibrox, says that the masses would do well to remember that fact.

“It was a bad one for Rangers against Celtic but people have to remember it was only their first defeat of the season,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“I have a good idea how the players will be feeling. Heavy Old Firm losses are hard to shake off.
“I was in a Rangers team who were thumped 6-2 by Celtic and you don’t forget defeats like that.”
He is right. It was the Gers’ first defeat, but they have also drawn two of their five Premiership outings.
Rangers dominated the Scottish Championship last season but it is not yet proving a fairytale return to the big time for Warburton and co, though there is plenty of time in which to turn things around.
