Rangers’ Matthew Gilks gathers from Celtic’s Kieran Tierney
Former Rangers striker Billy Dodds has told BBC Sport that he thinks Matt Gilks made ‘unbelievable’ saves against Celtic, whilst praising Mark Warburton for starting Lee Hodson.
Rangers and Celtic locked horns for the second time this season on Sunday, as after the Bhoys claimed a 5-1 win in the Scottish Premiership last month, they faced each other in the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park.

The Gers managed to keep the score down compared to September’s defeat, but they still ended up on the losing side as Moussa Dembele won the game for Celtic.
Rangers will feel they are getting closer to Celtic after Sunday’s display, and two Gers players have now been praised by former Gers hitman Billy Dodds.
Dodds told BBC Sport that he felt goalkeeper Matt Gilks was a ‘one-man show’ for spells against Celtic, making some unbelievable saves to keep his side in the game.

Gilks, a summer signing from Burnley, has largely served as Wes Foderingham’s backup, but he took his chance against Celtic with a superb display.
Dodds also praised full back Lee Hodson, stating that he kept Scott Sinclair quiet, whilst hailing manager Warburton for his tactical change before the game.
Warburton decided to bring Hodson – a player he signed having worked with him at Watford and Brenford – into the side at right back, pushing James Tavernier forward to the right of midfield, something which impressed Dodds.

“Almost a one-man show at times, and he made some unbelievable saves,” said Dodds. “One poor pass, but kept the scoreline down for Rangers.”
“Really kept working hard, and mostly kept Scott Sinclair quiet in open play,” he added on Hodson. “Was a good tactical change by Rangers manager Mark Warburton to stop Celtic’s pace hurting Rangers.”
