Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers brought Bruno Alves to Ibrox last summer.

Alves joined Rangers in the summer of 2017 after leaving Cagliari, and the Portugal international was expected to be a massive success at Ibrox.
The 36-year-old central defender had injury issues this past campaign, although the former FC Porto star is part of the Portugal squad for the ongoing World Cup finals in Russia.
Former Rangers striker and Ross County assistant manager Dodds has given his take on Alves, and has revealed what he and his team thought of him this past campaign.

Dodds told BBC Sport about Alves: “He has been a fantastic player. From a footballer looking at it and from a pundit looking at it, you can see the legs are starting to go. He wanted his swansong at the World Cup, he’s got that.
“Sometimes in games, I could see him wobbling. He’s still commanding, he was still dominant in the air but you still feel as if you could’ve got at him and that’s the way we felt at Ross County and that’s the way other teams probably would’ve felt as well.
“He’s coming to the end of his career. He’s been a brilliant player, I’m not taking that away from him.”

Time to move on Bruno Alves?
Alves is a very experienced footballer, but it is clear that the 36-year-old is past his prime.
With new Rangers manager Steven Gerrard having signed central defenders Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson in the summer transfer window already, the Portuguese will struggle for playing time next season.
Perhaps it is time to move Alves on, and maybe the defender himself should look to find another club after his World Cup campaign with Portugal is over.
