Ronald Koeman has reportedly asked Everton’s board to make a move for Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk.
Bill Kenwright has told the Liverpool Echo that Everton will have the money to sign whatever player Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh want this summer.
Kenwright has confirmed that Farhad Moshiri is intending to invest money in Everton’s first-team squad.
And if Koeman and Walsh both agree that a player would enhance the quality of Everton’s team, then the Toffees will do everything they can to bring him to Goodison Park.
“If there is a player who wants to play for Everton Football Club who Ronald [Koeman] wants, who Steve [Walsh] wants, we will get them for you. It’s fantastic for me to be able to say that,” Kenwright said.
Kenwright’s word could add fuel to the fire that Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk could be a potential transfer target this summer.
According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, Everton boss Koeman has asked his side’s board to submit a bid for the £55m rated centre-back.
Everton have already been linked with a range of other potential targets, but they are fighting to keep hold of some of their key players too.
Ross Barkley’s and Romelu Lukaku’s futures still remain in a lot of doubt, with interest rising in their services.
Barkley has been linked with Tottenham (The Sun), while Lukaku is of interest to both Manchester United and Chelsea (Daily Star).
