Bilic’s interesting response when asked if he would change anything about West Ham’s season

West Ham United have not had things all their own way this season.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and explained why he believes their season so far has been a ‘great one’, whilst insisting that he would not have swapped it for a ‘steady’ campaign.

West Ham currently sit in 11th position in the Premier League table, but have a chance to jump back to ninth when they face Chelsea tomorrow night, and close the gap on eighth placed West Bromwich Albion.

The East London outfit’s Croatian boss has endured heavy criticism this term, but has proved his durability and true class by guiding his Hammers side away from relegation trouble into the safety of mid-table.

This season has been a turbulent one for West Ham, what with the off-field problems instigated by the now departed Dimitri Payet, the teething problems experienced following their switch to the London Stadium, and some dreadful performances during the first three months of the campaign.

But Bilic insisted that he is proud of his side’s achievements this term, when speaking to WHUFC.com, highlighting how difficult it has been for them to cope with the immense change they have had to experience:

“I consider this season as a great one. For me individually, and for the team, and for the club, because this season we experienced some negative things, some positive things, but mainly a lot of new things. I wouldn’t change it. I would change September and October. But after that, when you’ve made it and you get out of that, the experience is priceless and you benefit from it in the future. I wouldn’t swap when I was under pressure or the team was under pressure. I wouldn’t swap it for a steady season.”

Bilic and his side still harbour ambitions of forcing their way inside the top seven, but in order to do that, they will need to mount a sustained run of victories, starting with three points against their London rivals tomorrow night.
