The West Ham United manager has endured a tumultuous campaign in the Hammers hot-seat this term.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s bitterly disappointing 4-0 loss to Liverpool yesterday, and shared how complacency from his side was a major contributing factor behind the heavy defeat, despite having warned his players against allowing it to creep into their games, as quoted by the club’s official website.
West Ham remained in 12th spot, despite losing to the Reds, and it will now be next to impossible for them to finish inside the top half of the table, what with their atrocious goal difference currently standing at minus 18.
The Croatian has received heavy criticism for his poor player recruitment last summer, and rightly so, but a large portion of the blame must be levelled at the first-team squad, who have quite simply not reached the levels of performance they did last term.
And Bilic pinpointed one key area of his side’s game which allowed Liverpool to be so dominant, after warning them against it, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We wanted to give the same level of performance in terms of teamwork and energy as we did against Tottenham, and avoid the factor of complacency, but obviously it was there. Quality-wise, that can go up and down, but the other characteristics of performance are within your control.”

The East London outfit will have to make vast improvements over the summer, if they are to replicate last season’s seventh placed finish, but the main question is whether or not Slaven Bilic will still be in charge at the London Stadium.
If he does in fact manage to keep his job, he will have to make sure he learns from last summer’s antics in the transfer market, and bring younger, more hungry players with a point to prove to the club.
And maybe then the Hammers can make genuine progress.
