City Football Group (CFG) are reportedly looking at the prospect of adding to their umbrella of clubs in Dutch side ADO Den Haag.
According to Dutch publication AD, Manchester City’s ownership group are in talks to buy into the Dutch second division side. A Japanese group are also interested in a takeover of Den Haag.
CFG own clubs on each continent with Man City their largest side and flagship model. The likes of New York City FC, Girona and Melbourne City are all part of the same group.
And now Den Haag could be the latest club to be owned by CFG. The organisation this year completed the takeover of French side ESTAC Troyes as their tenth team.
CFG’s model has come with pros and cons since its inception in 2013. Man City as a whole have profited greatly from the project, with the likes of Jack Harrison, Yangel Herrera and Angelino all products of inter-club transfers within the organisation.
However, the radical rebranding of some clubs, mainly in Melbourne, has seen CFG come under scrutiny from supporters. Yet for Den Haag, one of the historically big sides in Holland, it is unlikely this will happen.
