Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has angrily swatted aside suggestions that Sadio Mane is a diver on Sky Sports, during their Monday Night Football coverage.

There has been some claims that the Liverpool forward looks to go down too easily in the box from supporters and pundits alike.

However, Mane opted to stay on his feet for Liverpool against Southampton, when a less honest player may have gone down.

In the end it proved costly for Liverpool, as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat at St. Mary’s.

And Klopp claims anybody who still calls £34 million forward (BBC Sport), Mane, a ‘diver’ is completely wrong.

“The best situations were pretty much when Sadio had the ball,” he said.

“If anyone ever says that Sadio Mane is a diver again, it’s the biggest joke in the world.

“This boy tried to stay on his feet in two situations, where other teams would get a penalty for it.”

Liverpool did have a number of penalty claims turned down on Monday evening, but they could still have few complaints about the result.

Klopp’s side were miles away from their best, as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat on the south coast.

Liverpool just did not show their usual attacking class, as they struggled to break down a resilient Southampton defence throughout the contest.

The Reds’ lead at the top of the Premier League table now looks a precarious one, with many of the chasing pack having games in hand over them.
