Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Wesley could be heading for the exit door before Tuesday’s deadline.
The Athletic have claimed that Wesley is set to leave Villa and re-join Club Brugge on a season-long loan.
Wesley has fallen behind summer signing Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins in Villa’s striker pecking order.
Plus, since that horrendous injury against Burnley, the 24-year-old hasn’t been able to get back up to speed.
Forget about performances, the hard-hitting forward just needs the regular minutes under his belt to find that sharpness again.
And as Villa supporters have pointed out, he won’t get that at B6 and this is the right move for him.
Many Villa fans agree that it is a crying shame as to how this has worked out because it’s a big injury that has hurt his career in the Midlands, more than anything else.
But given that the one-time Villa club-record signing is leaving on a temporary basis, it perhaps proves that Dean Smith still has faith in him.
If he can showcase his talents in Belgium again then he just might have a future at Villa Park.
