Alex Iwobi has posted on his Instagram story that he has ‘big respect’ for Mikel Arteta after his Everton side beat Arsenal 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Everton winger added on Instagram that it was ‘nice to see some old faces’, but it was ‘even better to win’ against his former club.
The Sean Dyche effect didn’t take too long to make its mark, with the new Everton boss making himself known pretty much straightaway and with a deserved win against the best team in the land.
Iwobi, who was sold for £34 million to the Toffees when Unai Emery was in charge of Arsenal in 2019 (BBC Sport), started yesterday’s game, and just like he has been all season long, he was one of his side’s better players.
Everton might be in a spot of bother this season, and even during the previous campaign, if they were to find a few positives, then Iwobi would be one of them.
Coming through at Hale-End, the silky winger was used out wide, but under Frank Lampard, he was deployed more like a number eight and he has thrived.
ARSENAL CAN COUNT THEIR LUCKY CHICKENS
That defeat to Everton would have been a hammer blow for Arteta and Co, but not anymore!
Manchester City, who had the chance to close the gap at the top by two points, were beaten 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
It won’t happen often, but the cheers across both ends of north London could be heard when Harry Kane put the ball into the back of the net.
That just provides another boost for Arsenal that, not only are they going to win the title, but Man City don’t look like their old selves.
