Rangers have hinted at a possible return for Kemar Roofe at Anfield on Tuesday night after posting pictures on their Twitter from Monday’s training – with Ibrox star Roofe front and centre, ahead of their match against Liverpool.

The Gers travel south to Merseyside to take on the Reds, who have been in disappointing form this season. They come into Tuesday night’s clash against Rangers having failed to beat Brighton on Saturday, drawing 3-3 at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Rangers are starting to show signs of improvement. While they have suffered defeats to Napoli and Ajax in the Champions League, they have picked up two consecutive wins against Dundee United, and then Hearts 4-0.

Alfredo Morelos is back competing with the in-form Antonio Colak up top, who has 11 goals already this season. Now, there could be more competition in the final third – with Rangers posting a gallery of training pictures, including Roofe.

Rangers training return for Roofe ahead of Liverpool match

It is has been a frustrating period for Roofe. The 29-year-old starred against Braga in the second leg of his side’s quarter-final clash in last seasons’s Europa League, but picked up an injury. He returned as a sub for the final.

Ready for pre-season, the five-time Jamaica international then suffered another injury. Now back in training, Rangers will have to monitor his progress steadily but it could be, that he makes the bench. There is more competition, now.

Colak has made a superb start, and Morelos is back. But Roofe offers quality from out wide and as a 10 – and having a versatile attacker on the bench will boost the Gers. Certainly, they will need all the help they can get against Liverpool.

But Roofe is an experienced player and with 34 goals in 72 games for Rangers, his return will come as a massive lift. Whether the £4million signing is in the squad against Liverpool, we will have to wait and see.
