Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere’s loan is coming to an end at Bournemouth, who are unlikely to sign him permanently.
Bournemouth’s Jack Wilshere
Jack Wilshere has not had the best of times during his loan spell at Bournemouth this season, with the BBC reporting that Eddie Howe will not be signing the England international in the summer.
The 25-year-old is currently out injured after suffering a fractured leg in Bournemouth’s defeat to Tottenham in April, but he has not really reached the heights Eddie Howe would have hoped from him.
Wilshere, who has been capped by England 34 times, has played 29 games for the Cherries this season, scoring none and assisting only two goals.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe
His poor form during his time under Eddie Howe will have done nothing to dampen the gloom around the fall from grace for Wilshere, as he failed to meet expectations.
The Arsenal man will return to Arsene Wenger’s side in the summer, but can he really expect to be finding regular first team opportunities at the Gunners?
Wilshere has always had the potential to be a great player, but has never quite managed the consistency or fitness to allow that potential to blossom into actuality.
He would have to compete with the likes of Mesut Ozil, if he stays at the club, as well as Welshman Aaron Ramsey for a starting place, and it seems unlikely he would be able to feature ahead of the pair.
The once promising future for the Arsenal youth product looks to be falling to pieces and he will have to work hard on returning to full fitness once again to revitalise his Premier League career.
