Glenn Hoddle said on BT Sport 2 (10:07pm, December 10, 2020) that Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is still not at his best.
The Tottenham legend made the comments about Bale following Spurs’ 2-0 win against Royal Antwerp at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The former England international midfielder was not too impressed by the display produced by the 31-year-old, who returned to Spurs on loan from Real Madrid in the summer of 2020.
Hoddle said about Bale on BT Sport 2 (10:07pm, December 10, 2020): “By now, I would be expecting him to be ahead of where he is. He looks a little bit fragile, if you like, a little bit tentative when he goes in, when it’s tight, he’s still unsure of his body, I feel, at the moment.
“He hasn’t quite got that little change of pace, it’s getting there. Whether he gets it back again is the big question mark, that was the big risk bringing Gareth back to Tottenham. I think there’s still more to come. That will elevate Tottenham’s performance as well.”

Bale has not been at his best for Spurs this season, and although he has done well in flashes, he has left much to be desired.
Against Antwerp, the winger started the match brightly, but he then faded away before taking a wonderful free kick in the second half which ended in a goal for Carlos Vinicius.
Bale played the game ‘in moments’, and it is clear that he needs to do more and play consistently well during a match.
According to WhoScored, the winger took three shots, had a pass accuracy of 75%, won four headers, took 30 touches, attempted one dribble, and made one tackle.
