According to Le10Sport, Arsenal are keen on a move for Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches.
Sanches would certainly be an interesting signing for Arsenal. After all, he’s a former European Golden Boy winner and he was one of the stars of Euro 2016.
He returned to form at Lille last season, and while he’s seemingly caught the eye of Arsenal, one man who he hasn’t quite won round yet is Patrick Vieira.
Vieira admitted on ITV over the summer that the midfielder has shown his brilliance in flashes, but he questioned his consistency.
What’s been said?
Vieira spoke about Sanches while he was doing punditry for ITV during the Euros this summer.
“He was a big prospect. Everybody was waiting for him to be one of the top young players for the future. He moved to Bayern Munich where he had a very difficult period,” Vieira said.
“I don’t think it was the right place for him to keep developing. But last year with Lille, he did really well. He wasn’t really consistent during the season, but he had some flashes of his talent.”

Not what Arsenal need
If there’s any club that doesn’t need an inconsistent midfielder in their squad it’s Arsenal.
Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mohamed Elneny are already inconsistent enough, they don’t need to add another patchy player to this mix.
There is great irony in the fact that the man who labelled Sanches as inconsistent is Vieira – the man who truly epitomised what it meant to be a consistent midfielder at Arsenal.
