Danny Murphy told talkSPORT that he thinks Liverpool are going to make one more ‘big’ signing before the transfer slams shut.
The Radio pundit thinks that the player, albeit he didn’t drop a name, will be someone for the attacking third.
Whilst a certain Manchester City splash the cash on Jack Grealish, it has been much quieter for those on Merseyside with Ibrahima Konate being their standout purchase.
It’s not long until that August 31 deadline, but Murphy dropped this exciting claim about his former club because he doesn’t think they are finished yet.
“There is still a chance Liverpool will make one big one,” said Murphy. “I think so. An attacking one. In the attacking third.
“I personally wouldn’t sign anybody, if I was Klopp unless I thought they could go into the XI.
“If you can get one that can play instead of Firmino or instead of Mane then sign him. But there aren’t many about.”
Diogo Jota did arrive pretty late during last summer’s transfer window and a signing that came out of the blue.
The Liverpool supporters will be hoping for the same surprise ahead of the new Premier League season, which kicks off this weekend.
Perhaps if the Reds can part ways with some of their squad players then that will open up an extra door for Jurgen Klopp to bring in another fresh face.
The six-time European Cup champions are packed in defence and midfield but perhaps another body is needed in the final third.
