Alfie Matthews has dropped a huge hint on social media that he’s set to leave Arsenal.

The 18-year-old was promoted to Mikel Arteta’s senior training in March, shortly before the season was suspended due to the global health outbreak.

But it looks likely that Arsenal fans will never get to see him in action, following his post on Instagram today.

Matthew posted a photo of his boots alongside the caption: “Another good session today! We keep pushing towards this big move.”

It remains to be seen if he’s set to join another club or whether Arsenal are going to let him go, but either way it looks increasingly plausible that he has no future at London Colney.

Matthews, who referenced his ‘big move’ in another post later, scored five times in 15 outings for the Gunners’ Under-18 side this season, prior to the shutdown.

A number of other promising players have been spotted in Arteta’s training over the past week, like Trae Coyle and Zech Medley, but there’s been no sign of Matthews.

Here’s some screenshots of the teenager’s cryptic posts.
