Lyle Taylor is a player in demand, with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers among the clubs linked with the striker.

TEAMtalk reported in May of interest in the Charlton Athletic striker from Rangers, as well as from Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Burnley among other clubs.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the Addicks at the end of the month, and he has already decided that he will not stay at the Championship club thereafter.

The Montserrat international striker told Sky Sports earlier this month that he does not plan to train or play for Charlton this month and explained his stance.

However, a report in The Sun published late last night claimed that the striker has made a ‘dramatic U-turn’ after holding ‘peace talks’ with manager Lee Bowyer and will play for the Addicks this month.

It seems that there has been a further twist, with well-known Sky Sports and talkSPORT presenter Jim White claiming on Twitter today that it is not true that the striker will play for the Addicks.

White has also stated that the youngster is in line for a big-money move on a free transfer this summer.

Rangers move this summer?

What is clear is that Taylor will leave Charlton at the end of the month, and it remains to be seen if he will join Rangers.

The Gers are a massive club, but the Scottish Premiership side are unlikely to be in a position to offer ‘big money’ compared to clubs in England.

Moreover, with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe at Ibrox, Taylor will find it tough to play regular first-team football, although from manager Steven Gerrard’s perspective, he would be a very good option to have in the squad.
