Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday are linked to Izaguirre, but with Manchester United interested in Celtic’s Tierney, the Championship duo are likely to be unsuccessful.
The Sun reported last week that Championship duo Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday are battling to sign Celtic defender Emilio Izaguirre.
The Honduran international is providing a useful back-up for promising talent Kieran Tierney at present, and is out of contract at the end of the season.
Izaguirre is interested in playing first team football and is likely to explore his options, but could land up with an increased role at Celtic.

Manchester United have set their sights on Celtic full-back Tierney, The Mirror report, which would leave the Scottish champions with a dilemma in terms of how to replace him.
The Red Devils are keen on selling their own left-back Luke Shaw, The Independent report, adding weight to the Tierney rumours.
In demand: Celtic’s Kieran Tierney
This merry go round increases Izaguirre’s importance to Celtic, and is should strengthen the club’s resolve to keep him around.
The 30-year-old is in control of his own destiny, and Celtic are already keen to get him signed to an extension.
Manager Brendan Rodgers told the Daily Record this month he intends to speak with Izazguirre about a new deal, and interest in Tierney makes getting this done even more important.
As a knock on effect, Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday may find it that little bit harder to tempt him away.
