Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn would be a success at Frank Lampard’s Everton.
The former Arsenal star believes that Bergwijn has the attributes to succeed at Everton, adding that he does not think that the Netherlands international winger has got enough chances at Tottenham to show what he is capable of.
De Telegraaf reported earlier this week that Everton are interested in signing the £73,000-a-week (SalarySport) winger from Tottenham in the summer transfer window and have offered him better terms than Ajax.
Merson wrote in The Daily Star: “I also don’t think Richarlison is the right signing for Tottenham – but Steven Bergwijn would be a big hit for Everton.”

The pundit added: “But it doesn’t surprise me that Everton want Bergwijn. He never got a real run in the team at Spurs.
“But I think he can play and he might be a nice surprise for Everton. He’s quick and he’s creative and he scores goals and I think he would fit in nicely at Goodison Park.”
Everton target Steven Bergwijn should leave Tottenham Hotspur
In our opinion, if Steven Bergwijn has the chance to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Ajax or Everton, then he should take it.
There is no point whatsoever for the Dutchman to warm the bench at Tottenham, especially now as the North London club have signed Richarlison from Everton.
The Brazil international attacker can play anywhere across the front-line.
Bergwijn was able to make only four starts and 21 substitute appearances in the Premier League last season.
The Tottenham attacker has scored seven goals and created two big chances in 60 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
