Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has worryingly told Football London that Kieran Tierney will have to have a scan on his injury problem which kept him out last night.
Tierney was not named in Arsenal’s team against Crystal Palace last night and initially it was thought the decision came as a precaution.
But Arteta has now hinted that Tierney’s injury problem could be a more serious one.
There are no guarantees that the Scot will play next week now, with Arsenal facing an anxious wait as they assess the severity of their problem.
“We don’t know,” he said, when asked if Tierney would be back for Monday. “We’ll probably know more tomorrow after testing him and having the evolution of the injury and how long he’s gonna be out for.
“Certainly it was a big disappointment just on the day of the match to lose him.”
Arsenal will be desperately hoping that Tierney’s injury is not a serious one, but the latest update has caused a huge concern among supporters.
Arteta admitted after the game that Tierney was a big loss for his team both in an attacking and defensive sense last night, as Arsenal failed to get past Crystal Palace.
The Gunners could not find a route to goal, as they drew 0-0 with Roy Hodgson’s men at the Emirates Stadium.
Ainsley Matiland-Niles stepped into Arsenal’s team with Tierney out injured, but he wasn’t entirely convincing, and it will be interesting to see if he keeps his place for their next game against Newcastle United on Monday.
