Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Joe Rodon is unavailable for selection for Tottenham Hotspur tonight.

Spurs kick off their Europa Conference League campaign with a trip to Portugal to face Pacos de Ferreira.

Much of the pre-match chat centered around whether Nuno would be selecting linked-away Harry Kane, amid speculation of a move to Manchester City.

But there’s another player who definitely won’t be taking part – Rodon.

The Wales international, an £11 million signing last summer from Swansea City, has picked up an injury and therefore won’t be involved tonight.

Nuno told Football London about the ‘big disappointment’: “Unfortunately Joe will miss the game, he had a small problem after the game in the training session we usually do in the stadium. he tried but he is not 100 per cent fit so he is not going to play. It is a big disappointment because we want all of the players to get minutes.”

Romero coming in?

The good news is that Nuno later added that it was a ‘small injury’.

Another piece of good news is that it might just open the door for Cristian Romero to make a full debut.

The big-money signing from Atalanta came on as a substitute against Manchester City last Sunday.

That indicates that the player is not 100 percent fit – but a 90-minute outing in Portugal later this evening may well accelerate his conditioning to have him ready for the weekend, with Tottenham visiting Wolves on Sunday.
