Reported Rangers target Senou Coulibaly is considering his future at Dijon after the Ligue 1 strugglers were relegated from France’s top flight, speaking to Le Bien Public.
It turns out Dijon couldn’t cut the mustard after all.
A disastrous 2020/21 has seen the Mustardmen pick up just three wins in 35 league matches. As such, Dijon will be playing second-tier football next term, a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Metz yesterday summing up what has been a calamity of a campaign.
Whether Coulibaly sticks around to play Ligue 2 football at the Stade Gaston Gerard remains to be seen.
In April, FootMercato reported Rangers and Huddersfield Town are among the clubs keen to offer Coulibaly a fresh start, having been struck by the 26-year-old’s searing pace and impressive leadership skills.
And the Paris-born centre-back has admitted he has a difficult decision to make as the transfer window creaks open.
“Staying on a descent isn’t always very flattering. I need to talk more seriously about (my future) with the president and the coach, to go on vacation and figure out where I’m going,” Coulibaly says.
“Honestly, I would like to stay in Ligue 1. I feel good at Dijon. Having a new project and a solid base would be interesting. I would also like to bring the club back up.

“We had known for a long time (we would be relegated) and we had already prepared for it. It’s true that it’s a big disappointment.
“There were a lot of feelings, it was mostly disappointment.”
Coulibaly, a 6ft 4in centre-back, is one of a number of defenders linked with Rangers in recent weeks.
But, with Connor Goldson, Jack Simpson and Filip Helander expected to stay – and with Leon Balogun signing a new one-year deal – is there any space for Coulibaly at Ibrox?
