Harry Redknapp has stated that Arsenal deserve ‘big credit’ for what they have done this season, as he told talkSPORT.
The former Premier League manager added that Tottenham and West Ham are ‘certainly’ in the hunt to finish in the top four places.
At this moment in time, it’s Arsenal that occupy fourth spot heading into the Boxing Day games at the weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s side are four points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham, but they have played one game more, including five points ahead of Manchester United, but they have also played two more games than Ralf Rangnick’s men.
The gap between Spurs is six points, but just like the others teams, COVID issues has meant they have three games in hand on their north London rivals.
Nonetheless, this is what Redknapp had to say about Arsenal, the top four race, as he ruled out Wolves.
“Big credit, Arsenal have been excellent,” said Redknapp. “I wouldn’t fancy Wolves, they are decent but I can’t see them making top-four.
“There are probably three runners for that spot and West Ham and Tottenham are certainly two of them.”
Antonio Conte’s side have the games in hand on those around them, but what would fans prefer.
The games in hand or the points on board? Either way, those matches could prove to be crucial for Spurs in their quest to secure Champions League football.
One thing is for sure, this is a race that will go down to the wire and those reverse fixtures against one another might also prove to be the turning points.
But until then, COVID is continuing to cause havoc and teams are losing momentum by having games called off near-on every other week now.
