Jürgen Klopp has been speaking to the media ahead of the Champions League clash between Liverpool and Benfica on Wednesday evening.

Ahead of the Quarter-Final second leg, the German found time to shower Arsenal and Newcastle target Darwin Nunez in praise.

What’s the story?

Well, Klopp is clearly a big fan of the 22-year-old, who has been among the best strikers in Europe this season.

Nunez has impressively scored 31 goals in 36 games this term, while also providing three assists.

The Express believe Arsenal and Newcastle sent scouts to watch the Uruguay international face Liverpool last week, and were treated to a goal from him as Benfica lost 3-1.

Now, Klopp has praised the South American.

As quoted by Fabrizio Romano, the 54-year-old said: “An extremely good looking boy, eh? He is a really good boy. He played in front of me battling against Konate. He was calm for the finish. He is good, really good. If he stays healthy, he has a big career ahead of him.”

Clearly, Klopp is a big fan of Nunez, which comes as no surprise.

Very few people across the world of football could claim to not be admirers of the Benfica No.9, given his eye-catching efforts this season.

Liverpool could steal Darwin Nunez from Arsenal & Newcastle

Interestingly, Liverpool could actually beat Mikel Arteta and Eddie Howe to the prolific striker’s signature.

Portuguese news outlet O Jogo believe the Reds want to sign Nunez this summer, a move he’d presumably be open to given Liverpool’s status.

Of course, with Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah already at Anfield, the forward department is quite crowded.

Nevertheless, if one of those five leave this summer, then we could well be seeing Nunez shine in a different shade of red next season.
