Harry Redknapp has told Deadline Day on Sky Sports (05/10/20 at 10:10 pm) that Arsenal signing Thomas Partey is a ‘big bonus’ for the club.

Arsenal left it late on deadline day to bring Partey to the Emirates Stadium after months and months of the fans wanting to see the recently departed Atletico Madrid man don their shirt.

Well, not only have the Arsenal fans got their wish, but it seems Mikel Arteta’s demands have also been met.

During his days in management, Redknapp was known for his last-minute deals and he shared his thoughts at Arsenal making themselves heard during this summer’s window.

“Oh, yes [this is the sort of guy they need],” Redknapp told Sky Sports.”Strong and aggressive. He can play. Break it up and pass it.

“He looks the type of midfield player they were looking for. He will be a big bonus for Arsenal. Good player.”

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

Hours before Arsenal signed Partey, those in the boardroom at the Emirates Stadium were facing a potential backlash for their dealings this summer.

But the signing of Partey has helped elevate the team and excite the fans, who have now seen a new big-money centre-back arrive, one of the top midfielders in Europe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang committing his future to the North London club.

Added with Arteta’s side starting off the season in a bright and healthy fashion, this only breeds positive energy and it’s something that has been missing for far too long at Arsenal.
