Eddie Nketiah has signed a new contract at Arsenal and the Hale-End star has shared footage on his Instagram of the ‘special day’.
The 23-year-old posted a 42-second clip where he is greeting the club’s technical director, Edu, signing the contract with his family beside him and then being presented with the club’s famous 14 shirt.
Everton winger, Iwobi, who came through the same Hale-End academy as Nketiah, simply responded in the comments section with the words ‘big, big’, whilst Ainsley Maitland-Niles posted, ‘Yeah big dawg, come sit next to me’.
Danny Crowley, the former Arsenal academy product, also posted his reaction by commenting: ‘Well done bro’.
NKETIAH’S NUMBER 14 SHIRT DIVIDES OPINION
Along with fixing his long-term future in north London, Nketiah was also handed the number 14 shirt, worn by the club’s greatest ever striker, Thierry Henry.
But that has seemingly divided opinion, Ian Wright has come out and defended the striker after an Arsenal fan claimed that he doesn’t deserve to wear that number.
Whilst former Tottenham midfielder, Jamie O’Hara, thinks it’s ‘great news for Spurs’ that Nketiah has extended his stay and thinks he shouldn’t have been given the number 14 shirt.
Either way, come next season, the pressure will be well on Nketiah’s shoulders because if he struggles, then that number on his back will get a mention.
However, what a time for him to answer his critics and showcase to the Premier League that he can score the goals Mikel Arteta desperately craves.
