The Whites beat Rotherham United 2-0 on Saturday afternoon to continue their 100% start to the new season, with Luke Ayling and Kemar Roofe on the scoresheet.
That’s now three wins from three Championship games for Leeds, and with an EFL Cup win over Bolton Wanderers added onto that record, Bielsa is working wonders so far.
One of his greatest victories to date has been the performances of forward Roofe, who has hit three goals and one assist in three games in what has been a superb start to the season.
Roofe, 25, wasn’t expected to be a key player, especially after Leeds splashed the cash on Patrick Bamford to lead their attack – but Roofe has stepped up and made himself indispensable under Bielsa.
The 2016 signing from Oxford has often threatened to become a star at Elland Road, but it’s fair to say that Garry Monk, Thomas Christiansen and Paul Heckingbottom didn’t quite know how to get the best out of him.
The former West Brom talent has been used out wide, as a number 10 and as a striker, but whereas Christiansen saw Roofe smothered by defenders, Bielsa is utilising him perfectly.
Roofe is linking up well in the short passing style of Bielsa, whilst he has been given the licence to run in behind too, with Argentinian so far using Roofe to perfection – and showing his predecessors how it’s done with the versatile and well-rounded attacker.
