Bielsa responds when asked about Leeds’ current transfer progress

Marcelo Bielsa has suggested that he is not aware of any players being close to coming in or leaving Leeds United so far this month.

In comments reported by Leeds Live, Marcelo Bielsa has hinted that Leeds are yet to make any significant progress regarding players coming in or going out of the club during the January transfer window.

Whites fans are probably expecting the club to enjoy a very quiet window. Bielsa cut the squad significantly over the summer, and has taken a lot of time to integrate several of his signings during the previous window.

Despite having a terrible run of luck with injury this term, Bielsa has given off the impression that he is still happy with his current ranks and is not planning a raft of deals before the end of the month.

But after back-to-back defeats, several of the Elland Road faithful have implored the club to do some business to ensure that they do not run of steam at the end of the campaign having got themselves into a fantastic position in the Championship.

However, when asked about whether he was aware of any deals being close, both in terms of incomings and outgoings, Bielsa hinted that nothing is in the pipeline.

“No, for now, no,” he said, as reported by Leeds Live, when asked about whether he knew anything about any players coming in or going out.

Of course, there is a long way to go in the window and Bielsa may prefer to keep his cards close to his chest at this stage. It is often suspected that a club’s desperation to get a deal done can result in the asking price increasing, so Bielsa’s stance could benefit Leeds if he is not telling the whole truth at this stage.

But given how Bielsa’s tenure has played out so far, it would not be the biggest surprise at all if he genuinely did have few plans to add to the squad before the deadline.
