Leeds United ace Kemar Roofe could be a surprise package next season despite reported interest in Matej Vydra.

It is no secret that Leeds United want to add a new centre-forward to their ranks next season, but underrated ace Kemar Roofe may have something to say about that.

Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa is prioritising a deal for Derby County striker Matej Vydra and the Yorkshire giants are edging close to an £11million deal for him, according to the Daily Mirror.

They are in advanced talks about his signature and Bielsa has advised the club to pursue Vydra over alternative transfer target Abel Hernandez, who is a free agent this summer.

Leeds fans can be excited about the prospect of having natural goalscorer Vydra at Elland Road, but the 2018/19 season could also be a huge one for Roofe.

Roofe is certainly an underrated player within the Leeds group and his return of 14 goals plus five assists last season is hugely impressive given the fact he never really got a run of consistent games in one position.

The 25-year-old has the versatility to play in a variety of attacking positions, but his threat could make him a great option at the point of Bielsa’s attack.

Roofe has developed massively in just a couple of years since he joined from Oxford United and there is no reason why he can’t kick on once again under a high-profile manager.

Not many will pick him out as the one to watch ahead of the next campaign, but could he be the surprise package under Bielsa?
