Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has explained how the transfer process will work at the club in his press conference today, as reported by Leeds Live.

Bielsa gave his first press conference as Leeds head coach this afternoon, having been appointed in the role earlier this summer.

The Argentine boss has explained how the transfer process will work at the Championship outfit, outlining the importance of Victor Orta, the club’s director of football.

Bielsa said in his press conference, as quoted by Leeds Live: “In terms of the transfer process I get names from Victor Orta, I then give my opinion on them.

“If we arrive at an agreement and are on the same page moving forward, that’s when the process starts.”

Victor Orta calling the shots?

From Bielsa’s aforementioned comments, it seems that Leeds’s director of football Orta will remain the chief in terms of recruitment.

As the Argentine coach says, it will be Orta who will initially make suggestions on new players, not Bielsa.

However, it seems that the new Leeds head coach will speak to Orta about players to sign and his opinion will matter.

Challenging for playoffs

Leeds endured a disappointing season in 2017-18, and the West Yorkshire outfit will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship in 2018-19.

It is not going to be easy for the Whites, but with Bielsa in charge of the team, the Elland Road faithful can at least dream.
