Speaking to OTB, Leeds legend John Giles has been discussing the departure of Marcelo Bielsa from Leeds United and the ownership.

The Irishman, like many others, wasn’t best pleased to hear that Bielsa had been sacked, and he’s pointed the finger squarely at the ownership.

Indeed, Giles says that Radrizzani and Orta expected too much from Bielsa, while the Argentine even has a case to make that the higher-ups didn’t meet his expectations in terms of signings.

What’s been said?

Giles gave his view on the situation.

“I think the owner Mr Radrizzani and the Sporting Director Victor Orta were expecting an awful lot. Radrizzani says that the results lately haven’t met their expectations, they’ve had a bad time, but what did they expect? Mr Bielsa could even say that they haven’t met his expectations because they didn’t bring anybody in to replace the injured lads,” Giles said.

Fair point

Giles has a very fair point here.

Yes, Bielsa has been blamed for Leeds’ poor results, but the fact that there wasn’t a deep squad to help him through this injury crisis has only exacerbated things.

Orta and Radrizzani have control of the signings, and while Bielsa often likes to work with a small squad, they should have taken control and brought a few more bodies in.
