Reading fans are hoping to get a decent fee for John Swift after a report stated that Aston Villa are keen on the midfielder.
The Reading Chronicle claim that Reading’s star man is on Villa’s radar with the transfer window set to re-open next month.
A lot could depend on what league Villa are playing in next season because if they remain in England’s top-flight then signing Swift might just prove to be easier.
However, if Dean Smith’s side suffer relegation today then they may find it difficult penning Swift down to a contract because the report does also state that European-chasing, Sheffield United, are also keen on his services.
Despite playing for a team that struggled for consistency during the recently concluded season, Swift worked his magic for the Royals.
Reading fans are seemingly resigned to losing their star man given the interest that is hotting up for his services, but they understandably want to sell him for as much as possible.
Either way, given Swift’s performances this term – six goals and 10 assists from the middle of the park – it does seem as though he will be leaving the Madejski Stadium, but the question is where will he end up?
