According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, August 2, 2020), Arsenal are considering selling Coventry City target Ben Sheaf in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Coventry have made a six-figure bid for the 22-year-old, who can operate as a defender or as a midfielder.

The Sky Blues will play in the Championship next season after winning promotion from League One.

The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 61, August 2, 2020) has claimed that the Gunners are considering cashing in on the former England Under-18 international this summer.

Leaving Arsenal

Sheaf has failed to break into the Arsenal first team and has been out on loan at Stevenage and Doncaster Rovers since 2018.

The youngster – described by Doncaster manager Darren Moore as “an intelligent footballer” who “plays well off either foot” in The Doncaster Free Press in July 2019 – needs to play regular first-team football at this stage of his career.

A move to Coventry would allow him to do that, and the 22-year-old should seriously consider leaving Arsenal this summer.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has suggested that Arsenal should keep Daniel Ceballos – who spent the past season on loan from Real Madrid – for next season.

Murphy wrote in The Daily Mail: “And if Real insist on Arsenal having to buy Ceballos instead of another loan, the reported fee of £35million seems very reasonable to me. Take him.”

Murphy added about the Spain international midfielder: “What I like about the Spaniard is he is progressive with his passing. He always looks forward first.

“He is the one who plays those penetrative passes short and long. Aubameyang and his team-mates further forward are the beneficiaries.”
