In-form QPR extended their winning streak with Pawel Wszolek strike proving decisive against Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.
Queens Park Rangers winger Pawel Wszolek found himself out of the starting XI at the beginning of this Championship campaign, but after Friday night’s heroics against Aston Villa, the Pole’s name will be one of the first on the team-sheet after his recent performances.
Wszolek scored seven minutes before half-time and after playing every minute of Rangers’ last three games – all victories – manager Steve McClaren is really getting the best out of the 26-year-old.
Wszolek is now playing in his preferred attacking right-winger role, and McClaren looks to have a player on his hands who’ll be brimming with confidence. Initially used as a sub at the beginning of the season, Wszolek’s eventual inclusion was welcomed into the starting XI by some supporters, with Rangers still then struggling to find their best team.
Against Aston Villa, Wszolek demonstrated exactly what he is about with his energetic display and all-round determined performance. The whole side performed brilliantly, but from Wszolek’s perspective, the goal itself will boost his morale. QPR will be hoping that they can tie-down Wszolek for longer with his contract up this summer
The R’s are looking strong at the moment, and Wszolek will want to carry on his fine form and help the west Londoner’s continue to move up the Championship table.
A trip to Blackburn Rovers is next up for Wszolek and QPR on Saturday, but this will be a difficult trip against Tony Mowbray’s improving side.
