Motherwell defender Bevis Mugabi says he had a trial at Celtic before he moved to Southampton in 2011.

Bevis Mugabi has told The Scottish Sun that he had a trial at Celtic before he joined Southampton.
The 24-year-old defender came through at Fulham before joining Southampton in 2011.
The Uganda international failed to break into the Saints’ first team and joined Yeovil Town in 2016.
Then in September 2019, the defender earned a contract with Motherwell and will stay at the Scottish Premiership club until January 2020.
Mugabi has said that after he left Fulham, he had a trial at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic before he made the move to Southampton in 2011 as a 16-year-old.
Mugabi told The Scottish Sun: “I’d been at Fulham and I came up for a week to train at Lennoxtown. I don’t remember much about who the staff were — but I do remember it was really cold!
“I went back to London and Southampton offered me terms, so I went there because they have a really good academy and it was nearer my family.”

Contrasting fortunes
Both Celtic and Motherwell were in action at the weekend, and the two sides had contrasting fortunes.
While Celtic – who have won the league title for the past eight season and have clinched the domestic treble for the last three years, hammered Aberdeen 4-0 away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon, Motherwell went down 2-1 to Rangers at Ibrox.
