The likelihood of Wolverhampton Wanderers signing Swansea City star Alfie Mawson appears to have increased in recent hours, according to one bookmaker.
Bookmaker Sky Bet appear to be hinting that Wolves signing Alfie Mawson this summer is becoming a slightly more realistic possibility, with the Premier League newbies now just 2/1 to land the Swansea defender this summer.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are gearing up for life back at the highest level, and have wasted little time to get stuck into the transfer market, with Willy Boly, Diogo Jota, Rui Patricio and Raul Jimenez all penning terms at Molineux.
But could Mawson follow them through the door this summer?
Sky Bet seem to hint that there is now a greater chance. Just over a month ago, Wolves moved into 5/1 third favourites to sign the Swans talisman, and they remained at that price until very recently. Sky Bet now list Nuno’s men as the 2/1 second favourites to sign Mawson.
Interestingly, the only side ahead of Wolves in the market is West Ham. The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for the 24-year-old, with the Daily Mirror even previously reporting that a fee of around £20 million has been close to being agreed, so Sky Bet listing them at 5/4, only just ahead of Wolves, is intriguing.
Mawson has been extremely impressive during his time at the Liberty Stadium and it would be absolutely no surprise if he was playing at the highest level next season despite Swansea’s relegation.
And while many things that are not always based on facts can prompt a dramatic shift in the odds, it will be interesting to see whether Wolves’ odds of signing Mawson shortening is a sign that Nuno does indeed have the defender on his radar this summer.
