Premier League-bound Wolverhampton Wanderers are right in the mix to sign Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson according to one bookmaker.

Bookmaker Sky Bet have listed Wolves as the 5/1 third favourites to sign Alfie Mawson from Swansea City during the summer transfer window as Nuno Espirito Santo continues to prepare his side for the Premier League.

Wolves won the Championship title at a canter last season. And given the incredible summer window that they enjoyed 12 months ago, it would be little surprise if the club had some hugely exciting transfer plans.

And perhaps they could include a move for Swans stalwart Mawson. The 24-year-old has seen his stock rise significantly over the last couple of years despite the fact that his current side will be one of the teams that will replace Wolves in the Championship following relegation.

The Guardian recently reported that £20 million-rated Mawson is set to be offered the chance to stay in the top flight this summer, with the likes of West Ham and Southampton keeping a close eye on him while Tottenham are also in the running.

Interestingly, Sky Bet make Spurs the favourites to sign the former Barnsley ace. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are listed at 2/1 to sign Mawson during the coming months, while neighbours Arsenal are just behind in the market at 3/1.

Wolves are the next side in the running, with the newly-promoted club currently listed at 5/1 to bag Mawson’s signature, with West Ham also in contention at 6/1.

With Wolves often deploying a back three, it would certainly appear to be a very wise move to target further reinforcements at the back, especially with stalwart of this past season Willy Boly currently on loan at the club.

And it seems very unlikely, despite the relegation, that many of the Wolves fans would have any complaints if there was something in the betting odds and the club were indeed considering a move for Mawson.
