Andre Schurrle has been linked with a return to the Premier League, so could West Bromwich Albion be in contention for his signature?

Bookmaker Sky Bet have listed West Brom as the 7/1 second favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle during the January transfer window as Alan Pardew desperately seeks some additions to his squad.

It has been a frustrating window so far for the Baggies, with no signings made despite their position in the bottom three in the Premier League table.

Despite taking four points from their last two league games, West Brom fans would be forgiven for feeling that it is imperative that they bring some new faces into the squad before next week’s deadline. So could one of the players they land be the World Cup winning-winger?

Sky Bet list the Baggies as 7/1 outsiders to sign the 27-year-old this month, but that does make The Hawthorns outfit the second favourites to pull off a deal behind Newcastle United – who are listed at 4/1.

Schurrle has reportedly been catching the Magpies’ eye this month. The Sun recently reported that Rafa Benitez is keen to sign the German on loan during this window, while the pair’s rivals Stoke City are also monitoring the wide-man’s situation at the Westfalenstadion.

It is no surprise therefore, that Newcastle are well placed with Sky Bet to potentially pull off a deal. What is quite surprising however, is that Stoke are not listed – Chelsea and Leicester City are the teams available at the longest odds (20/1) – and that the Baggies are the second favourites.

It would undoubtedly be a coup for West Brom if the market proves to foreshadow some interest and they have an outside chance of bringing Schurrle in this month.

The former Chelsea man may not have enjoyed the best time with Dortmund, but he is still a quality player and would surely be an asset to the Baggies in their fight to stay up.
