West Bromwich Albion are the current favourites to sign Watford striker Troy Deeney this month, according to one bookmaker.

According to bookmaker Sky Bet, West Brom are the current favourites to sign Troy Deeney if he ends up leaving Watford during the January transfer window.

Deeney has endured a frustrating season at Vicarage Road, with just seven starts in the Premier League and a further six appearances coming from the bench for the Hornets.

ESPN recently reported that Deeney could potentially be allowed to leave Watford if Marco Silva decides that he is not in his plans, and that seemed to open the door for Newcastle with the same report suggesting that the Magpies had made the 29-year-old their number one striker target.

However, Sky Bet has listed the Baggies as the clear favourites to complete a deal, with Alan Pardew’s men 6/4 to bring Deeney to The Hawthorns as they desperately try to get themselves out of trouble in the top flight.

With Newcastle well out of contention as the 12/1 second favourites, it certainly appears that, as things stand, Deeney will end the January window either still as a Watford player or having made the move to the Baggies.

Though Deeney has hardly been prolific this season, he has reached double figures for both of his previous full campaigns in the top flight with the Hornets, so perhaps he may be the man who Pardew may try and turn to as he looks to give his side the fire-power to elevate them out of the bottom three.

West Brom are second-bottom and have not won a game in the league since August, so they undoubtedly need to use the January window to strengthen their squad.
