The Stoke City man has been linked with a move to West Ham United, but Celtic are the bookies’ favourites to sign him.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have slashed the odds on Celtic signing Stoke City midfielder Joe Allen, listing them as the 4/1 favourites in the race for his signature.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is actively looking to bolster his options during the transfer window, in an attempt to build a group of players capable of making a sustained push for both the league title and the Europa League.

And Allen would fit the bill perfectly.

The cultured 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Hammers are weighing up a £15 million bid for the Stoke man.

It perhaps comes as somewhat of a surprise then to see SkyBET list the Glasgow giants as 4/1 favourites in the race to sign Allen, ahead of West Ham at 9/2.

Whilst it is hard to imagine a scenario where Celtic could afford a fee anywhere near £15 million to secure his services, if some kind of common ground can be reached, and Rodgers manages to bring the midfielder to Parkhead, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Hoops.
