The Swansea City ace is a reported transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur, but Arsenal are in the running too, according to the bookies.

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed Arsenal as surprise outsiders in the race to sign Tottenham-linked Swansea ace Alfie Mawson in the summer.
Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on bolstering his defensive options at the end of the season, with Per Mertesacker set to retire and Laurent Koscielny just six months away from turning 33.

According to a report from the Times, Mawson is a prime summer target for Spurs, although he will cost £40 million if Mauricio Pochettino is serious about signing him.
Perhaps because of that report, SkyBET list the Lilywhites as 2/1 favourites in the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Somewhat surprisingly, though, SkyBET make the Gunners 8/1 second favourites to obtain Mawson’s signature this summer.

The Swansea man is a fine defender, and has showcased his undeniable quality on a consistent basis this season for the Swans.
Although £40 million seems like a lot of money on the face of it, in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, it actually represents good value, and he will surely turn out to be a wonderful signing for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
