The January transfer window is just around the corner, and all Premier League clubs will be eyeing up potential new additions.

One player set to attract interest is Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia, who has already been linked with a potential move to England next month.

Garcia, 27, had spells with Alicante, Getafe B and Real Sociedad before heading on loan to Eibar in 2012 for two years, eventually penning a permanent deal in 2014.

The midfielder has now racked up nearly 200 league appearances for Eibar, but his contract expires at the end of the season, and he has so far rejected a new deal with the La Liga side.

The Mirror reported earlier this week that Garcia is wanted by Southampton, and Ladbrokes have priced the Saints as Evens favourites to snap him up in January.

Intriguingly though, it’s added that Newcastle United are priced up at 2/1, with the Magpies suddenly second favourites to beat Southampton to his signature.

Newcastle have seen Mikel Merino suffer a dip in form since making his move from Borussia Dortmund permanent, whilst Jonjo Shelvey’s discipline has been an issue, and Isaac Hayden has been in and out of the team.

Manager Rafael Benitez may well want to bring in another midfielder this January, and with a strong knowledge of Spanish football, Garcia could well be a target for the Magpies.
