Popular bookmakers SkyBET have installed Middlesbrough as the new favourites in the race to sign Burnley hitman Sam Vokes, whilst listing Cardiff City as outsiders.

The Wales international joined the Clarets from Wolves in the summer of 2012, and he has since gone on to score 59 goals for the Lancashire outfit.

He is an incredibly able performer, certainly at Championship level, and at the age of 28, he still has plenty left to offer whichever club wins the race for his signature.

SkyBET believe that Vokes could very well be plying his trade at Middlesbrough this season, and list Tony Pulis’ side as the 3/1 favourites to sign him before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, ahead of second favourites Cardiff City who are listed at 8/1.

The Welshman would be a useful addition to Tony Pulis’ squad at the Riverside Stadium, and would undoubtedly play a major role in Middlesbrough’s push for promotion back to the Premier League this season.

Whether the Clarets will entertain the idea of selling Vokes remains to be seen, but considering the fact that they have just brought Matej Vydra into the club, the 28-year-old might just be deemed surplus to requirements at Turf Moor.
